Meiosis Questionn?

I think I understand Mitosis, I think I understand Mieosis. I got a 96 on the test. But there seems to be a block in my brain. Whyyy the hell are there half the number of chromosomes at the end of meiosis??! In mitosis, chromosomes are divided by the sindle fibre. In mieosis, full chromosomes are pulled into each cell.. So I don't understand why there is half in Mieosis!? Please help me.
